This is why you don't see a lot of kitties in those animated princess movies.

Happy New Year!

What do you do on New Year's Eve?

My most memorable one was Vic and I watching a spelling bee documentary in a small room I was renting in San Diego. See how exciting I am?!

See you next year!

Just wanted to sneak in a few words ‘til I sign off for vaca.

I started this blog mostly because I was burnt out, to put it frankly. I design stuff for a living, and it can be pretty intense at times, as “fun” a job as it sounds. And often times I find being in the company of the people and pets I love most enjoyable. My cats have always been a source of entertainment and comfort for me. They are my best friends (because none of my people friends invite me for dinner anymore. Haha!). And I often find myself doodling them. You would think that having another thing to illustrate would be stressful. It is actually the opposite. I look forward to making each comic for this blog, and I wish I had more time to post one every day instead of one to two times a week.

What I found interesting is that I get to meet a LOT of you cat people. Sometimes I wonder if I’m going crazy because some people think that I’m too obsessed with my cats. There are so many of you who take a bit of time to share your stories with me through email, through comments and through FB. It’s makes me feel good to know that many of you love cats as much as I do. So yay! I’m not the only person whose cat sleeps on her face, or “walks” her cat in the yard or lets her cat drink from her cupped hands under a trickling faucet!

Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas! See you next week.

My formerly mint mid-century modern couch. And Wonky Kitten pulling the fluffy stuff out of it. I love him.

Edit: I have a little interview at Lady's Comics. It is in Portuguese and English:)

It's supposedly a fact!

My dog Puppy cannot play catch. I'll throw something and he won't pay attention to it. He knows how to sit though, but that's pretty much it. I think he can lay down too, but it didn't work last time I told him to.

My cats Money and Wonky Kitten can play catch though. I'll throw Money's fuzzy green pouf and he'll quickly run after it and drop it close to me. He also loves to play this game where he'd bat his pouf under the oven and he'd try to fish it out. If he can't get it from the front, he'll climb to the back of the oven and reach for it there. If that fails, I reach for it for him. Then he'll do it over and over and over again. He's in love with that little gnarly thing.

A little bit more, and I'm probably there...

Oh, and I LOVE crumpets.

If I get one of these, it will have a built-in carousel with streamers and it will play that Popcorn song as it spins.

Dogs during emergencies. They will summon help from hot lumberjacks.

Cats during emergencies.

Here are a couple older ones.

Oh I tease.

I was sick on and off this week and my cats slept on my face. Now I feel much better.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Oh kitty cone. Have you placed one of these things on your cats? O_o

Actually, I’m the sick one. It’s almost a guarantee that every time there’s a holiday…sniffles.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving! No turkey for me…just sides :)

I’ll see you next week :)

True love…I has it.

Do you let your cats sleep on your bed? I like it when they sleep on my bed. It makes me feel special. Haha!

Sometimes I wake up with scratches on my face.

Edit: On the flip, this happens.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

We got a very very angry voice mail the next day. The person on the other line was a relative and he didn’t know that it was my cats tampering with Victor’s phone.

Monday, November 1, 2010

The untrue part of this comic is that I wouldn’t slip on a banana because we rarely have them at home. More like, I’d skid on my cats’ throw up on the linoleum. And it’s happened before.

How was your Halloween?

My cats hid under the tables.

...and remain cute while doing so :)

I have a lot of rare books which I place on various bookshelves. Kitten likes to claw himself up and sleep and knead on them. Urgh.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

I don't know why, but it's not as endearing.

I have one of those body leashes for cats (and ferrets and tiny dogs). I tried it on my cat and it just didn't happen. I basically just mopped the linoleum with their fur. I tried it outside, and they practically walked me.

I asked Victor, "So if I get a kitty stroller, will you walk them too?"

He was hesitant.

When I adopted my newest kitten.

This is him. He's the sweetest. He has very wonky hind legs, so when he runs, he runs diagonally. He also can't jump, so he has to claw himself up my bed. He's very healthy though. I just have to put a chair or some other platform for him to step on if he wants to go on top of something.

Spaghetti is always hard to resist. It’s both food AND a noodle-y toy.

Not so much their water bowl. Sometimes, yes. But they prefer more fancy means. The faucet, by far, is my creamsicle cat's favourite. She especially loves it if I cup my hand under the trickling water and she drinks from my palms. If I pull away she will meow and paw at me.

Last Holiday month, we drove from San Francisco to Phoenix to see family. This would normally take us about 12 hours. But with pets, it took us about 15+ hours. This included frequent stops for feeding, cleaning, walking and breathing. It gets stuffy quickly, especially inside a compact car. I'd feel sad boarding the pets at a hotel for 2 weeks.

That and my cats will end up resenting me if I leave them for that long. Last time I left them for a few days, they left pretty nasty "presents" on my bed. Eep.

Sunday, October 3, 2010

This is how it starts :P

Much of my cats have been strays, and the rest are adopted. When I lived in Arizona, we'd pick up cats, and once a dog (Puppy) roaming around in the heat. They all become indoor pets once I adopt them. But I walk them in the yard twice a day.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

This is why I can't close my bedroom doors. I either go through this, or this.

All my doors have scratch marks, and the carpet underneath is very frayed. The higher, deeper scratches are from the dog, and the smaller, longer and thinner scratches from the cats.

They must love me to want to be with me that much.

There were a number of times when I'd place a snack on top of a tall shelf and wonder how my dog would get to it. By then the package would be ripped into pieces...

One day, upon arriving home, I see Puppy chewing on a package I thought I'd placed on the shelf. I exclaimed, "bad dog!" I picked up the wrapper, and upon close inspection, there were tiny nibbles on them--as in cat nibbles. My dog is 95 pounds with a large mouth and teeth. Tiny nibbles are not his thing.

We felt so bad, we gave him a treat :(

See? I have proof.

I'll just keep my butt warm on your laptop mommy.

Monday, September 13, 2010

My cats, especially the boys, are generally all over the place during the day. They are super extra sweet though when it's night time and they want to cuddle on the bed, or if they're hungry or want a treat. Oh ESPECIALLY when they want a treat.

Funny how cats are the same way as people sometimes :)

Who needs alarm clocks really?

Come early morning, or if one of my cats sees my eyes open, they will go on and on and on, meowing and purring and scratching until one of us feeds them. Then my dog will follow, and wag his tail and jump around and knock everything over.

How are your mornings?

If I were single, I couldn't imagine going out with someone who wasn't pet-friendly.

This strip is dedicated to my 96 lb dog, Puppy. And yes, all of the above has happened.

And things I didn't include: my leather jacket, pillows, books and my vintage Japanese dolls.

My cats are fine around Puppy. My kitten loves to play with his tail. The two older ones are just like, "meh".

Do you have a dog?

Oh, and I have an interview in I Have Cat. Thanks Tamar!

Hello. I'm back in SF Bay. My cats were extra extra sweet...mostly because they wanted treats. I'd like to think that they missed us.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Hi!

By the time you read this, we are probably in Los Angeles. I totally needed a break. I draw and design stuff, on average, 12-15 hours almost every day--not exaggerating. Not only that, it seems like summer has skipped San Francisco. I needed some sun. Everyone's complaining about how hot it is in whatever state they're in while I have my heater on and I'm wearing a scarf. Pffftt.

Anyway, no comics this week. I'll definitely have some for next. If you are looking for other things to read (but aren't really kitty related), you can go through the archives of my illustration/crafty blogs here, here and here. I also have two online magazines here and here.

This is it for now. See you next week :)

xoxo

*Click on the pic to enlarge

I feed my dog and 3 cats Royal Canin, Wellness and Greenies treats and other stuff. It's basically a mix of dry and wet. I have a 12 year old cat that still moves about like a kitten. And all have super soft fur. They're extremely active and keep me up at night. And during early mornings I'm like a human trampoline. It's like, "MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY WAKE UP AND FEED US NAOOOO!!!" as they knead on my head and jump on me and purr like crazy.

I'm not easily manipulated, kittens!!! I think.

What do you feed your pets?

Monday, August 9, 2010

Remember Y2K? Classmates were asking me, what are you and your parents doing?! And they were telling us to stock up on rice, beans and water.

My parents bought a few cases of water the last minute because I nagged them to. But we didn't need to buy rice. We already had rice in stock because well, we're Asian.

Anyway, as we all now know, nothing happened. But at least we had a few cases of water, which we used immediately as Phoenix tap tastes like rust and swimming pool water. Oh, and SF tap is good. I hear Seattle tap is pretty great. Yes, I am a tap water connoisseur (not really, I lie). Coming from someone who used to drink water out of a deep well in a country with archaic hydro and sewage systems.

What will you do if the internet breaks?

Tip: Go to your garbage bin or garage. Find a cardboard box. Empty box of its contents. Leave in living room. Watch cats tear it apart.

Mew.

My house smells like bubble gum and rainbows. I hope.

I'll be doing a little series on cat ladies (and gents) this week, starting with the above comic.

I have an fb group now. Feel free to join. I will be posting updates here. You can post your kitty photos too if you'd like :)

p.s. To all of you to went to the SD Comicon, I am jealous. That is all.

Are you at that age when people to your left and right are having babies or planning on having them and everyone is wondering when you're going to have babies too? And you're like, "Uhhhhhh, I have cats. I'm going to adopt another one this Saturday..."
